An Introduction to Archery

Combat Zone is now offering an Archery experience for beginners.

Catering for all ages we have 2 62” Bullseye Bows and 4 66” Bullseye.  Limbs are 25 or 15lb - a fairly light weight which will help to make the learning experience a little easier.  This allows the beginner to concentrate more on form.

Targets are set at 16, 18 and 25 metres.  The two latter distances are those normally set for indoor Archery.  We use the two larger outdoor targets being 122cm square and 80cm, chosen to allow the learner a more pleasant introduction to Archery - nice to hit something first up! 

Competitive archers use outdoor targets set at 30, 50, 60 and 70 metres for women and 30, 50, 70 and 90 metres for men!!

Finger tabs and arm guards are provided.

Our “Introduction to Archery” is set in a very relaxed atmosphere.  However, we will run through our standard safety rules and then happily give you some “pointers” to get you started.  Once you know the basics you can keep score if you like and see how you go against your buddies.  Each target is broken into 10 scoring zones - from the outside;- 2 white, 2 black, 2 blue, 2 red and 2 yellow.  If you get the centre yellow (the “Bullseye”) you get ten points, nine points for the outer yellow, 8 points for the inner blue, 7 for the outer blue etc down to 1 point for the outer white.

For a bit of fun we can provide you will balloons as targets which the younger ones are sure to enjoy and perhaps even the adults!!

A picnic area is provided, so you are most welcome to lunch while you shoot or let us know if you would like a BBQ and we can move one on site for you.  Archery is a great way to spend a calm summers evening with friends and/or family.  Air Rifle Target Shooting is in the same vicinity, and this is a great way to keep teenagers entertained if they are not interested in Archery and you are!  See our Target Shooting pageJ
